Bunaken Island — Pristine Beaches & Marine Paradise

Discover the pristine beaches of Bunaken Island, where you can snorkel and dive straight off the sand into Bunaken National Marine Park. This guide covers how to get there, the best time to visit, and what to see — and if you'd like to stay on the island, explore our Bunaken Island resort and dive packages.

Bunaken's Beaches & House Reef

Bunaken Island is fringed with quiet, palm-lined beaches and a spectacular house reef that begins just a few metres from the sand. At Bunaken Sunrise Resort you can walk straight off the beach and snorkel over coral gardens and dramatic walls — no boat required — in calm, clear water with minimal current for most of the year.

The beach in front of the resort is one of the best spots on the island for easy, relaxed snorkelling. It is also a beautiful place to watch the sunrise over the sea in the morning and the colourful skies as the sun sets over the Celebes Sea in the evening.
